Water bottles of all kinds are used by people all around the world each day. With so many different options it is hard to know which water bottle to buy and use.
A great place to start is to ensure the water bottle you are using is safe. Some kinds of bottles can potentially have harmful chemicals that leach into the drink. The most commonly found chemical that people are trying to avoid is BPA.
The phrase 'BPA Free' is often used when talking about water bottles. Questions such as are BPA Free plastic bottles safe and how do I know if my water bottle is BPA free are common.
What is BPA?
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a monomer used in some plastics, including polycarbonate.
There is some research that shows BPA can leach into food or drinks from containers that are made with BPA.
BPA has been linked to serious health issues such as a higher risk of certain cancers, reduced fertility, diabetes, and birth defects.
By using a BPA free water bottle you do not have to worry about these concerns.
What else should you look out for?
While BPA is often talked about as something you should make sure is not in your products, it is also important to ensure your products don't have BPS. Tritan is not manufactured with BPS or any other bisphenol compound.
When choosing a new water bottle we recommend looking for a BPA and BPS Free label or information.
Is Tritan made with BPA?
The plastic we use to make our water bottles is Tritan™ Copolyester, a strong, clear plastic which is BPA-free. It doesn't contain BPS (bisphenol S) or any other bisphenols. Tritan has been tested by four third-party labs and shown to be free of any estrogenic and androgenic activity (EA-free). The top of 321 Water is made from food grade polypropylene, which is also BPA-free plastic.
As outlined by Eastman Tritan, BPA is not and has never been an ingredient or byproduct of the production of Tritan.
